In the increasingly global context of gimmicky politics and earth economics, there is a demand for multilingual advice like never before. The Master'southward in Briefing Interpreting at ISIT responds to this demand with its internationally recognized curriculum, its diverse student body and teaching staff.
Students complete a full-time degree program over two academic years of 2 thirteen-calendar week semesters each. Classes are taught past practicing conference interpreters and are held during the solar day, in the evening and on Saturdays. Deliberate practise – in other words, intensive modest-grouping training in all interpretation techniques – is a fundamental part of the program in addition to classes and homework.
In 2014, the Conference Interpreting programme at ISIT joined theEuropean Masters in Briefing Interpreting (EMCI) consortium, an elite grouping of universities offering accredited masters degrees in conference interpreting.

A multilingual foundation
Each conference interpreter works with a unique language combination. This combination of working languages is composed of:
- A Linguistic communication = native linguistic communication (or another linguistic communication strictly equivalent to a native language)
- B Language(s) = 2nd active language(southward)
- C Linguistic communication(s) = passive linguistic communication(s)
Native language or A language: The language into which the interpreter works from all his or her other languages, in both simultaneous and consecutive modes.
Active linguistic communication or B language: A linguistic communication other than the interpreter's native linguistic communication, of which he or she has a perfect control and into which he or she works from his or her A language.
Passive language or C language: A language of which the interpreter has a complete understanding and from which he or she works into his or her A linguistic communication.
At ISIT, English language and French are required in any linguistic communication combination.
ISIT besides caters for all languages for which a demand exists and qualified instructors can exist found.
In 2020-2021, the Briefing Interpreting program offered Standard arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.
Accepted language combinations
- AA for English and French exclusively,
- AB for English and French exclusively, provided that the candidate's level in his/her B linguistic communication is about equivalent to that of his or A linguistic communication,
- ABC, ABB, ABCC, ACCC or ACCCC, in which case English and French are yet required just can be A, B or C languages.
ACC combinations, except in rare cases, are not accepted.

Commencement-year internships
A work placement is a requirement for all first-year Conference Interpreting students.

Finding an internship is an integral function of an ISIT pedagogy, and ane that we expect students to practise themselves.
